Got questions? We have answers

What is club volleyball?

Club volleyball or Junior Olympic volleyball consists of regionally organized and governed training programs for boys and girls interested in obtaining advanced level training and competition in the sport of volleyball. Players participate after or before their school volleyball season and compete against other club programs. Club volleyball also works to promote the sport of volleyball and to teach the skills needed for a lifetime of play.

How much does it cost to join?

Fees for our National Level Program are $3,200.  Fees for our Regional Level Program are $1,200.  Fees for our Club Level Program are $600.  There are no additional travel fees or uniform fees. Payments are made in 2-3 installments with extended payment plans available with advanced coordination with club director.

What do the fees cover?

Fees are used to pay for: tournament entry fees, gym rental, fitness/strength training, coaches salaries, insurance, uniforms, equipment, and office supplies. This does not cover travel expenses that players incur, but players do not receive additional travel charges.

Do you have boy's teams?

Our plans are to start a Boy's Program in the fall of 2022.

Where do teams play?

Regional level tournaments are located throughout the Chicagoland and Southern Wisconsin area.  National and Regional teams participate in the Windy City Power League & the Chicago Volleyball League. National teams compete nationally and will usually participate in (2) National events involving some level of travel.

How do players get to events?

Families are responsible for getting their daughters to events. Players and families frequently carpool and share travel duties. Our website contains travel directions to venues as well as travel itineraries for multi-day tournaments.

Where do you practice?

All practices are held at Waukegan Park District’s Field House. The Field House is located at 800 Baldwin Avenue, Waukegan, two blocks east of the Grand Avenue/Green Bay Road intersection.

When do you practice?

Practices are held weeknights (usually Wednesday, Thursday, or Fridays) between the hours of 5:00pm and 9:00pm (5–7:15pm & 6:45–9pm).  These time-slots also includes the fitness/strength training.  A practice schedule is posted monthly on our website and available for download.

How do you get involved?

All players must tryout. Girl's tryouts are held in July. Players are chosen at tryouts based on a variety of attributes including athletic ability and attitude.

What if we do not want this structured of a program?

Net Force Volleyball Club offers two youth training programs that are held throughout the year. VolleyTots and VolleyKids are 6 week programs run in conjunction with the Waukegan Park District. Registration for these programs is available through the Waukegan Park District’s website. Private lessons are also available through Net Force coaches and clinicians.

How long is the season?

Regional & Club level teams typically compete December–March. National level teams typically compete December–June.  Our club takes the week of Christmas and 1 week for Spring Break off to help balance family and social plans.

Do all players play equally?

No. While every player will get opportunities to play at every tournament, the specific amount of playing time is at the coach’s discretion and will not be equal for all players. Players earn playing time through game situations and practice. Every player will get the same opportunities in practice to earn playing time.

How many players are on a team?

Between 10–12.

What age group should I play in?

USA Volleyball has established rules for age participation.  Please consult this chart for specific age definitions and classifications.

Players are able to “play up” a division with prior approval from club directors.
